Position: Consultant for Developing Guidance on Mandatory Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (mHREDD)

We are seeking an experienced consultant or consultancy to develop a comprehensive guidance document that will support companies in effectively aligning their operations with existing and upcoming mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence (mHREDD) legislation.The consultant/consultancy must have strong expertise in business and human rights law and soft law, data collection, research and analysis in the context of international corporate due diligence.
Purpose of the Consultancy
The consultant/consultancy will:
- Simplify and summarize the requirements of key EU mHREDD legislation, including:
- The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)
- The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
- The EU Forced Labour Regulation (EUFLR)
- Provide step-by-step guidance for companies to meet legislative requirements, including internal coordination, stakeholder engagement, risk analysis, mitigation actions, remediation, and lessons learned.
- Deliver practical advice tailored to business audiences, ensuring clarity and actionable recommendations.
The guidance will be a critical resource for ETI’s members as they navigate compliance and enhance their capacity for meaningful human rights due diligence.
Responsibilities
- Develop and agree on the approach and methodology for the guidance document.
- Conduct thorough research on the mHREDD landscape and legislative requirements.
- Draft a clear, practical guidance document tailored to business needs.
- Incorporate feedback from ETI members and collaborate closely with the Project Manager.
- Deliver the final guidance document by 31 May, 2025.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with companies on mHREDD compliance.
- Strong expertise in business and human rights law, including CSDDD, CSRD, and EUFLR.
- Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality research and guidance for a business audience.
- Strong analytical, writing, and project management skills, including the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Contract Details
- Type: Consultancy contract
- Budget: Maximum of £8,000 (inclusive of VAT, if applicable)
