A Caribbean island was the latest setting for ETI's tailored training package as international demand for the service continues to grow.
Winfresh (UK) Ltd. requested a tailored training package for thirty of its Windward Islands-based corporate responsibility staff, mainly working in ethical and fair trade. Bespoke workshops were delivered on-site over three days in April 2009 by an ETI approved trainer, experienced in delivering workshops tailored to the client's particular business.
In the UK, 35 buyers from ETI member company Asos.com attended on-site training during May and further sessions are planned for their merchandisers.
ASDA George has recently requested a similar package of bespoke training, tailored for 60 of their clothing buyers who source products through both UK and global supply chains. Again, this package will be delivered on-site to George staff by experienced ETI trainers drawing on our newly revised training modules.
As well as bespoke training packages delivered in-house to member and non-member companies and organisations, ETI offers a rolling series of four practical workshops on ethical trade that can be attended by staff from any organisation or company irrespective of whether they are members of ETI.
Last year, ETI trained more than 100 code of practice staff from a wide range of retailing and supplier companies along with trade union and NGO representatives. Participants learn how to manage, monitor and improve conditions for workers in workshops that draw on the practical experience of leading ethical trade practitioners, as well as best practice developed through ETI's own projects and activities.
The sessions are tailor made for a range of participants, from those just embarking on the ethical trade journey to more seasoned practitioners looking to ramp up their ethical trade programmes.

I can't put a price on the valuable 'real life' experiences that were shared round the table. The chance to share and learn like this and meet colleagues from other retail companies going through the same scenarios was really invaluable.
