Gender-responsive human rights due diligence (GRHRDD) is an approach that recognises that human rights violations in the workplace are not gender-neutral.
Rather, gender is a cross-cutting dimension that is intrinsic to all labour violations and must therefore be incorporated into HRDD process. It is underpinned by the right to gender equality, with particular emphasis on women, who are often discriminated against as a result of their gender. For businesses, adopting GRHRDD approaches not only contributes to achieving gender equality, but also supports long-term competitiveness and sustainability.
Our approach to GRHRDD at ETI focuses primarily on supporting our member companies to understand the approach through the development of tools and guidance, direct advisory support and collective action initiatives to tackle gender-based human rights issues in global supply chains using GRHRDD.
